Home Sweet Home (Goodbye) 1

June 20, 2016

As we get ready to leave the house and land we’ve lived in and on for 26 years, I know there are some things I will miss when we go. How good to have these photographs to remind me of sunrises I can see from my kitchen window, sunsets over the pond, and the way light patterns the interior of the house. (Remember that clicking on an image gives you a larger version.)

Oh no! These are sad. Good luck with the move.

    • I didn’t feel sad when I put this post together—or in general lately. I’m looking forward to our move, but I know I will have some nostalgia for this place. Thanks for the luck, Sue. I’ll need it to be ready for the movers; I’m still packing madly.

    • Thank you, Patricia. Actually, in our new place we’ll have more light because of the height of the windows. We’ll see how it interacts with the shadows.

What beautiful sights. Nostalgia rises in me for that place you’ve shared with me over the years. The closeness of the natural world, the quiet of the country, the warmth and comfort of your home, the peace within. Closing the doors on that place of life and opening your arms to a new pattern of life bring excitement, trepidation maybe, and perhaps times of exhaustion. Enjoy what’s coming…………

    Much love Patricia

    • Thank you, Patricia. I do intend to enjoy what’s coming even if I succumb to nostalgia from time to time. Soon I will post photos of the new home and surroundings.

Question: Has the Metasequoia tree taken hold and grown? Just curious….

    • Another good use for photography, eh? I think Kodak once said something about photographs being to make memories. I haven’t usually thought of them that way, but I think they’ll work that way anyhow. So far I’m OK with packing, if a bit harried. Thanks—whoever you are!

  6. Deep calm and appreciation – that’s what I see here. I’m glad you’re able to do the move as deliberately as you are. When one thinks of people who have no hinge or are forced to move suddenly, well, you just have to be thankful. And thankful that you can share it this way.

    • Thanks for your empathy, Lynn. Yes, I do feel fortunate that we are making this move with all deliberateness. Appreciation for having had all this beauty right outside the door for 26 years—definitely. Deep calm? Yea, I think so, but it’s a bit obscured by some panic in thinking about all that must be decided upon and packed by the looming deadline. I do know that—one way or another—it will be done, though.
