Woods from the Edge of the Road 4

December 5, 2016

This may be the thorniest osage orange tree I’ve ever seen.

Update later in the day: Botanist husband David says the reason this is the thorniest osage orange tree I’ve even seen is that it is not an osage orange tree but a honey locust (Gleditsia triacanthos).

  1. I love the complexity of this series, Linda. And the overcast lighting is perfect for the subjects.

    • Yes, the photos are complex, and looked more complex on download than the scene did to me in person. I wondered if any of the excitement I felt while taking the photos would come through. So thank you thank you for getting them, Ken.

  2. What would you do without him? 😉 What I like about the series is also all the detail and complexity, and I’m sure Ken is totally right about the overcast conditions – in sunlight it wouldn’t work like this at all.

    • Oh, goody. A reason to tolerate—maybe even like—overcast skies. Yes, and what would I do without you? 😉 Thanks, Lynn.
