Thanks, Jessica. I think the weld looks like a scar, which it sort-of is.

I’m not sure whether this is extremely bad soldering or something else – but it makes a powerful image.

Thanks, Andy. I’d be willing to bet that this repair is the work of fish-processing guys rather than welding-shop guys. In either case, it seems to be holding the bin together for now.
