  1. I can hear him! He’s such a classic. And he gets back early enough to watch the old cattails die and the new ones come up. 🙂

    • I hear his cousins when I walk past a different pond every day, but I never see them. Maybe I should walk more slowly. I love the sound. Ours sound like Song #1 here: http://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/red-winged-blackbird, but with the first part sounding more like “book” than just the “oo” sound without the “b” and “k.”

      • Have you had a chance to watch them as they sing? Very funny, especially if you can see pretty close-up.
